Wouldn’t it be nice to play the guitar by ear? To know what certain sounds feel like? To play melodies without hunting for notes? To translate solo ideas from our inner ear right to our hands?
When we sing, we don’t care what our vocal chords look like. There are no patterns. We don’t think about it. Rather, we know what the notes feel like in a way that’s difficult to describe.
Similarly, bugle players don’t think about the exact placement of their lips and tongue when playing something by ear. They just know what certain sounds feel like.
The Ultimate Guitar Ear Trainer is designed to train guitarists how to play by ear instead of by sight. UGET works by developing our relative pitch.
Having good relative pitch means that given a starting note, you could play a complete melody after hearing it just a couple of times without hunting for notes.
Just keep in mind that, just like anything else in music, some of us are going to be better at this than others.

The UGET is a software application that will take any song you enter and memorize the melody.
We’ll then start playing the song for you but without the lyrics.
Just keep in mind that playing by ear means playing without looking at the patterns or counting.
You’ll have to play the song by feel.
When you’re done we’ll let you play another song.
When you play the song, the software detects the melody and compares it to the melody you’re used to.
The software will attempt to make an accurate match.
But I’d rather you teach it what to do with my music.
So the UGET will move your buttons, slider and slider bar around to make the best match.
The software will then change the setting to accommodate the pattern you’re playing.
If the software likes the way you’re playing, it will memorize and remember that setting.
Our software will then ask you to play the song again, but without the lyrics.
When it’s time to repeat another song, the software will look at your last play, match it to the melody you just played and change the settings back to that setting.
The setup screen allows you to set how much of the song the software is going to use to train the pattern.
The first song you play will use a default pattern, but the 2nd, 3rd and subsequent songs will use a different random pattern.

All you need to play is:

When you boot it up, it should play the intro tune for 10 seconds. After this, you can press the Up arrow key to choose between 5 songs: Major, Minor, Minor Mix, Major Mix and Random
