Director of this movie is Tinu Suresh Desai. who was also the director of Omar’s A.D.M.I in 2013. The film is produced by Vipul K Rawal. The film received major critical acclaim and is being touted as the comeback of Akshay Kumar who has had a lull of a few years. It was directed by Vipul K Rawal, who directed the highly acclaimed film Bajrangi Bhaijaan and was his directorial debut. The script is inspired by the real life incident of Naval officer K.M. Nanavati, in which he was found guilty and executed for the murder of his wife.

This movie marks the comeback of actor Akshay Kumar who had a little lull in his hectic acting career in last few years. The actor who had recently changed his look, had given several performances and failed to get any break. This movie seems to be his break-out film and definitely will be receiving a warm welcome from his fans. Other cast members include Ileana D’Cruz, Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda, Kirti Kulhari, Kaushik Sen and Saurabh Shukla. The script is inspired from the real life incident of Naval Officer K.M. Nanavati, in which he was found guilty and executed for the murder of his wife.and was released on 8 August 2016. The film is a remake of the 2014 Hollywood film Zipper . The film opened to mixed reviews and was declared “Average” by Box Office India.The music of the movie is composed by the trio of music director, Jeet Gannguli, who also has an album titled- Mother along with Raghav Sachar and Arko Pravo Mukherjee. The lyrics are penned by Manoj Muntashir.

Priya is found murdered in a bus. A cop records her death in his cell phone and gives to Rustom and he makes a video call to his wife with the help of a ancillary officer which she overhears and later enlists the help of a private detective Javed Qazi to open the case. After seeing a few evidences, Rustom gets impatient and visits Priya’s sister Nargis who was in a relationship with him and she reveals the truth. Thus Rustom and Priya are deemed not to be the killer and are subjected to a mental test by a psychologist and quits the case. Rustom then goes to Pakistan and searches for Priya’s killers. A dead end is concluded and Rustom has to return home after seeing that Priya was murdered at the behest of some unknown people. He decides not to tell anyone about the truth and lives a lonely life with the help of his younger son Ilayath. He is also seen occasionally by a happily married couple who resides in the same locality as he and his wife, his friends who are also retired Naval officers give him their blessings for his novel and he finds the model for his thriller. Rustom soon recovers from his trauma and at later stages he gets promoted as the Commander of his country’s Navy.
His second movie was the Hindi remake of the Telugu film, Guntur, titled Takkar, which released on 3 July 2015.The producer and director’s next project is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film, Baahubali, which is currently in post-production.
The Rustom film will feature a story about Naval Officers who testify for the need for additional patriotism. He is a maritime Captain who is assigned to head a Naval Squadron while his ex wife Is revealed to be in loving and informal relation with K.M. Nanavati, a business tycoon and criminal.
