The tale opens in a hermit’s cabin, where a man is listening to a recording, placed there by himself, of a creature that prowls on the seas below him. The mysterious being, that calls itself “the Writhing In The Dark” (WITD) is described as having “not a single gross outline, nor a trace of any visible features”, and haunting the waters of the seas from the lowest depths to the highest canyons of the Earth. This is a story of humanity’s struggle against an invader that may seem like a myth, but has the potential of being a true danger to mankind.

About the Story:
In the near future, an ocean current from southern Africa alters the course of the Earth’s tectonic plates, creating a new ocean current known as the Orange, that flows through the dead center of the World. As a result of the ocean currents, shipping companies start to build the first modern cities on the Orange, including the city of “White Bluff”, the site of the main port of the city. But what the world doesn’t know is that this shift in water currents will bring something new to the surface. Something huge… and hungry. Something with the power of untold oceans and a terrifying predatory streak to match. Something that wants to devour everything in its path.

      4Caster uses mouse & keyboard controls. The mouse cursor becomes a virtual trackball that you roll across the console to control the camera. In addition to the primary camera view, there is also a small secondary view that is displayed along with the trackball on the lower left of the screen, which displays the closest point of the game to your mouse position.There are no windows. You use the mouse to turn the console, look down the’shaft’ at the ground, look into the firebox, and then up and over the top of the car as you apply power, all with the same camera position.       Final release.

      Right now, everything in this build is now in final release. Meaning, things like save loading, etc. are done, as well as all the features listed above. Once we’ve tested and tested again, this build will be promoted to full release.

      Platform support

      Just wanted to make sure everyone understands that my target platform is PC, Mac, and Linux. Console versions are not supported. I’m also open to suggestions for consoles and devices, but not already working on them.

      Suggestion

      I think it would be awesome to have the option for a silent audio track during gameplay. Like, the music should continue to play, but it should have no effect on the audio that the player hears.

      Issues

      Patch file

      It’s a rather large patch file because of all the fixes and bug-fixes I threw in. If you are having issues with the game, that might be the reason. Also, I had to remove the WAL file that stored my save. That’s the first thing I would check if the game isn’t working. Just open the mod folder on steam and delete the WAL file.

      Alpha / Beta / Early Access

      This is the first release for the project. As such, I’m not fully sure what I’m doing. I’m guessing I’ll continue to make the game better, but I’m not 100% sure. This is my first indie game and it’s really tough to describe it as an early access game or anything like that. But I figure it’s best to tell everyone about it as soon as I can so they know what they’re getting into.

      A: I love games. Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved playing video games. I just love them. I don’t know why it’s so fun to shoot stuff or beat people up, but I do. That’s why I wanted to make the game. I want to make a game that I enjoy playing, and I want to make it so I can play it whenever I want to.
