not sure if this helped but i had this exact problem and i tried downloading the drivers from the website and installing them through the “nvidia-linux-x86_64-304.76-pkg1.run”. the result was the same, my computer was always displaying the black screen with the error message. i then tried to install from a cd instead of downloading the file and it worked, and i was able to boot into windows and play games without any problems.
