to get demul running, we need to do a lot of setup. a lot of the topics explained below are discussed in part 1 of this series. but given how powerful this emulator is, a good understanding of the inner workings of the dreamcast is a good idea. this guide is meant to give you a very basic, surface level guide that will get you going. there are a lot of interesting information in the official site about the inner workings of dreamcast which i highly suggest you study before attempting to emulate things with this emulator. in part 2, we’ll go into some of the theory of how this emulator works, and how the game’s are emulated.
so the first step is getting the roms right. when installing this arcade rom pack, you need to make sure you have the following installed:libgdx – make sure you have this in your build.gradle file.sdl – your sdl 2, 0, 1, 2 libraries install from here: http://www.libsdl.org/projects/sdl/ java runtime – i assume you have java installed, but make sure its version is 6 . if this is still a problem, make sure to check java 5 or something.
on one side of the coin there is the fact that we need to install the roms before we can play them. also, the naomi and naomi2 cards were never compatible with mame. this means that we have to create our own custom romset files for the naomi and naomi2 cards.
the reason this is a pain is that you have to use some command-line stuff, typically im not the best at that. as it stands, we just create our own custom romset file. although, i could make a video showing what its like. i would need to get my laptop set up as my pc wont allow me to use the naomi2 card just now.
