i then add in the body, then the boots, pants, and then the uniform. i then add the belt, coat, and a few more details. i then sculpt the gloves, and as i am finding my way through this i add some more details and fix some minor things that are not going well in the sculpting. i also create a few more labels and decals for the uniform and gloves, and then i use the brush tool to paint in some color for the uniform. i then go back to zbrush and make a few more small changes and tweaks to the uniform, and then i start to paint the coat with a gold metallic paint, finishing off the coat with a dark brown metallic for the leather. i then add some lining with a cream metallic for the coat.

i then finish the pants and move on to the uniform, and as i am painting in the details, i use the original zbrush-keyshot bridge to bring the uniform into keyshot. i use paint mode to paint in the details and adjust the details by clicking on the material in the selection view to adjust the colors and material.

this is a tutorial on how to build a 3d model with the tools offered in zbrush, specifically the bone tool. i have drawn some bones, and then the rest of the body parts with the polymesh modifier. this skeleton will be used to build the model later on. i have called the model rachael_skeleton. obj, which is a mesh of bones. i have hidden the mesh, since it is not needed for this tutorial.

the tutorial starts with the creation of some models, using the build tool. we start with a cube. the cube is then modified using the polymesh modifier. to create the armature, the armature modifier is used, and then the bones modifier is used to add bones and joints to the armature. finally, we use the mesh deformer to add the mesh to the bones. with the mesh displayed, it is possible to see how it is attached to the bones. we have added a wrist bone, and then the rest of the parts of the arm. the model is saved as rachael_model. because zbrush is a 3d modeling application, you can change all the model parts by moving them around, just like you would with a regular 3d modeling application. however, you can also change the model parts using the zproperties panel. when we have the armature and the mesh inside the armature, we can change the part properties of the mesh by using the properties panel. when the mesh is not visible, the armature is considered invisible, and when we add the mesh to the armature, it is visible. the rest of the models are created in the same way.

The last step is adding in real world lighting using a combination of soft and hard shadows, bright lights, and reflections. I can do this fairly easy in ZBrush but when I move to Keyshot it gets a bit more complicated.
Sometimes I can do all these steps in Zbrush, but sometimes I can get better results by using Keyshot. I can setup variables and set each direction to a different brightness, softness, and reflection level.
So, now that we know how to setup a Light in Zbrush. I will show how to get it into Keyshot. I have setup a key light that is still very bright. Now, I can set up another light to be a softer highlight light that will be more realistic.
I then use sculpt to animate and warp a new character. I then use the sculpting option, and try to make it work for the poses I want the character to use. To make it look more interesting, I add a hair texture to the character. The final product looks great in ZBrush and is all you have to do to create a great looking sculpt. You can now export the character to Keyshot, and start to make your animation. You can start to make your animation right away, just make sure that you have the character exported to Keyshot. To get more control over the scene, you may also need to scale the character.
If you happen to own the P3 version of ZBrush, the Bridge supports it. Unzip the downloaded resources (it will typically be called “ZBrush P3”). Then, create a new operating system. Do note that you might need to alter your system file to add the ZBrush folder. Finally, restart your device and youll be able to find the Bridge in the Pivot home tab.
